Takeda Shingen (1521–1573) was the head of the Takeda clan and lord of Kai Province. Known for his military brilliance, he employed rapid cavalry assaults and strategic positioning that stunned even rivals like Uesugi Kenshin. His Fūrinkazan banner served as a psychological weapon – a public declaration of his tactical code.
The slogan reflected Shingen’s mastery of movement, stealth, aggression, and defense. It became one of the most enduring mottos in Japanese military culture, and even modern martial artists and tacticians refer to it today.
This design is not a traditional kamon but a historic battle slogan, proudly displayed on Takeda standards and war flags.
